H.E Minister of Oil Visits KNPC

H.E Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Mohamed Al-Busairi visited KNPC on 16/1/2012. The visit program started by receiving the Minister at KNPC H.O, where Mr. Fahed Salem Al-Ajmi, Chairman & Managing Director, DMDs and the Managers welcomed His Excellency. After that, they all went to the Top Management meeting room, where Mr. Bakhit Al-Rashidi, DMD, Planning and Local Marketing gave a full presentation on KNPC current and future projects and 2030 strategy plans, in addition to the operations latest updates, including the workflow and achievements of the three refineries.
Al-Rashidi reviewed the organizational structure of the company and presented a summery on its history, establishment, phases of development, the work nature in its three refineries and its current daily capacity of oil and liquefied petroleum gas, referring to the products transferring network among the three refineries which makes them the biggest refining compound in the world. He also overviewed the New Refinery Project (NRP) and the Clean Fuel Project (CFP), pointing out that these two huge projects are a cornerstone in the strategic vision of the Kuwaiti refining industry.
After that, Mr. Khalid Al-Mushaileh, Manager, Corporate Planning Dept. talked about the aspects of 2030 strategy and KNPC initiatives related to the implementation of this strategy for realizing the expected increase in the productivity and refining of the company, most important challenges facing the company, in addition to roadmap of the new projects and the cost of each single project. Furthermore Mr. Adnan Bourisli, Manager of Local Marketing Dept. highlighted KNPC procedures carried out to control diesel smuggle and the temporary controlling body for the fuel marketing private sector companies, reviewing the internal controlling systems in KNPC for the petroleum products distribution. After that, Al-Busairi was taken to a tour inside MAA refinery included the refining units and control tower of the new oil pier.
In his speech, His Excellancy Minister of Oil stated that the NRP and CFP will transform the oil sector a significant qualitative transformation, indicating that the cost of KNPC projects being carried out for the next five years are ten billion and seven hundred millions Kuwaiti Dinars, including eight billions and six hundred millions assigned for the mentioned projects as they represent the hugest projects.
Al-Busairi pointed out that the NRP and CFP got the approval of the Supreme Petroleum Council and they are waiting for a decree by the Council of Ministers which is expected to be issued very soon for the implementation process. He added that the actual implementation of both projects are supposed to be by the end of this year to be completed in 2016. For his part, Mr. Farouk Al-Zanki, CEO-KPC said that the Minister tour in KNPC is the second one across the oil sector and by this visit he was acquainted with KNPC activities and visited MAA refinery which is considered the biggest KNPC refinery.
